Pens Sign Matt Niskanen to a Two-Year Deal

The Pens resigned Defenseman Matt Niskanen to a two-year, $4.3 million deal. He had 4 goals and 17 assists last season in 75 games.  He will be one of our main penalty killers now that Michalek is in Phoenix.

Arron Asham Signs with Rangers

Arron Asham signed a two-year, $2 million contract with the New York Rangers over the weekend. The Pens re-signed him last June at a rate of $775,000 for one year of service, but the front office did not offer him anything this offseason. During his two year tenure with the Penguins, he tallied 10 goals and 17 assists.

Pens close on Parise, eyeing Suter?

With the Penguins unable to sign Jordan Staal, who just signed a deal with Carolina that was identical to the one he refused from Pittsburgh, it immediately became clear that New Jersey forward Zach Parise was the Penguins top priority this offseason.  But the Penguins aren’t the only team with the top 3 forward on […]

Penguins, Crosby agree to 12 years, $104.4 million contract extension

The Penguins announced today that they have agreed to terms with Sidney Crosby on a contract extension.  The extension is for 12 years for $104.4 million.  This will take them to the 2024-2025 season (that even felt weird to type those years).  The annual cap hit is merely $8.7 million.

“This is a great day […]

Penguins to announce huge contract extension for Crosby

Darren Dreger of TSN posted a tweet this morning saying that the Penguins will announce a contract extension for Sidney Crosby worth over $100 million and about $9 million annually on Sunday.

Expect the Penguins to announce Sidney Crosby’s contract extension on Sunday. Over $100 million dollars with an AAV of close to $9 […]

Malkin and Crosby both nominated for ESPYS

The ESPYS are coming up on July 11th and the city of Pittsburgh doesn’t have many nominated this year.  But a couple of Penguins were nominated in two different categories.  Evgeni Malkin was nominated for Best NHL Player.  His competition is Steven Stamkos, Henrik Lundqvist, Jonathan Quick and Claude Giroux (barf).

Sidney Crosby was also […]

Busy week for the NHL, and it keeps coming.  Today the NHL released the entire 2012-2013 schedule.

Malkin wins three awards in Vegas including Hart Trophy

Malkin wins three awards in Vegas including Hart Trophy

Evgeni Malkin arrived in Vegas knowing that he would absolutely be taking home the Art Ross Trophy for the most points scored in a season.  But Malkin walked away with two more trophies.  He also won the Ted Lindsay award which is the trophy for an outstanding player voted on by his peers and he […]

Some early odds for 2012-2013 season have Penguins as favorites

While the Los Angeles Kings are likely still trying to beat the champagne hangover from last night the sports betting world is already figuring out who it’s going to be next year.  And whether it’s a surprise to you or not, the Kings are not the heavy favorites, that  honor goes to the Penguins.  I […]

Penguins pull out a big win in game 4

Last night started out much the same as the past three games, penalties, soft goals and a crazy period.  The Flyers continue to be strong on the Power Play going 3 for 5.  But last night on 8 power plays the Penguins had they scored on 4 of them and gave up no shorthanded […]

Penguins without Neal, Adams and Asham for game 4 tonight

After the mayhem that was game 3 the Penguins will be without 3 forwards tonight for a critical game 4.

James Neal will be suspended for one game after two consecutive hits he placed on Flyers players in the third period on Sunday. Craig Adams will be suspended also for one game for instigating a […]

Penguins lose 3rd straight in embarrassing fashion

I honestly don’t know the team that I saw on the ice yesterday.  They stooped to the level of the Flyers and made the Flyers look like angels.  Don’t get me wrong the Flyers are far from angels but the Penguins were just awful yesterday.  What Aaron Asham did to Braydon Schenn was […]

For someone that has only played in 22 games this season he has received two of these awards.  During his first comeback in December he was named the ‘First Star’ of the Week.  This time around he received the ‘Third Star’ after getting 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists) in the final three […]

Good weekend for Pittsburgh: Malkin hits 50 goals, Pirates take down Phillies

As most of the BB&G crew was out and about this weekend unable to post about the fantastic sports weekend we had, I thought I would do a quick review.

Pirates:

Even though the Pirates lost the home opener to Philadelphia on Thursday, 1-0 they bounced back in spectacular fashion.  They took down […]
